MC18 Honda NSR 250 Racebike

Why are you selling

Many have been asking me, mostly the folks that know I poured my heart and soul into building this racer which started as nothing but a frame and a dream. I've spent coutless hours on this bike, building everything for her and sourcing parts from all over the world to build a lightweight superbike racer that I so very much wanted to race. Basically, in just a few words, I crashed... hard, the hardest I ever had. I got hurt, really bad, really really really bad. I fractured my pelvis, broke ribs and my collerbone, was in a wheelchair for almost two months, and while I'm injured often on my motorcycles and have been injured pretty badly before, this one really hit and hit hard. My better half Jodi needs a break from my injuries and I need time to recoup from this one, so... While it pains me, it's time to sell the racer and heal. I'd rather not sell it, but the temptation is VERY high with it still in the shop, so, it's best to remove that temptation. Plain and simple as that.

Specs:

This is a MC18 Honda NSR 250. It comes race ready to go and has all the parts to put it back on the street. I do not have a title for it nor is it street legal in the US. It's possible, and I can tell you how, but the process of getting strokers legal in the states is not always for the faint of heart. The motor was JUST rebuilt before the second to last race including new rings and pistons, and she's as strong as ever now!

Racing Specifc Upgrades

Apart from having all the stock parts, this bike has been upgraded considerably for race use. The parts that have been upgraded are:
  • MC21 Wheels - It's now sporting 17 inch MC21 wheels. This allows the use of (which it is also fitted with) radial tires. It's currently running 207GPs
  • Circuit1 Front End - Circuit 1 (the premier NW Suspension guys before Pat and Dave split up and went seperate ways) have fitted this frontend with much stiffer springs, and changed the dampening stack, and rebuilt them entirely. It tracks like it's on rails now and never bottoms out even under hard braking in the bumps, it's AWESOME! Adjustable preload as well as dampening
  • Fox Rear Shock with remote resevoir - The bike is presently running a FOX Shock from a CBR 600 F3 and was just recently rebuilt. It's been machined to fit the NSR and works like a dream! Is adjustable for compression as well as dampening at the resevoir, dampening at the shock tower, and (of course) preload.
  • Speed Tune - This is the EGT temp sensor that shows jetting and if your rich/lean, no more need for plug chops, just hold it WFO on the straight in 3rd or higher, and see if your at 35 or not, richen or fatten accordingly. This is THE tuning tool for strokers, and you'll be hard pressed walking around the pits to find a single 125 or 250 that is NOT fitted with one! Even the 4-stroking diesels that are always in the way in the turns use 'em.
  • JHA Jet Kit - This bike is fitted with the JHA HRC factory A spec Jet Kit
  • UniPod Foam Pod filters - besides making rejetting a dream easier, it also gets rid of the pesky airbox that restricts power. I still have the factory airbox incase you want to put it back on, but it runs SO much better without it!
  • Proven podium finisher

Even with me aboard (I'm a big boy, 6'3" and 280 lbs BEFORE I put my leathers on!), this bike has finished on the podium. I've had five 3rd place finishes in Lightweight Superbike in OMRRA racing astride this girl! One of the most common comments I get is "Jezzus, how'd you pull me on the straight like that on a streetbike 250 with YOU on there?!?!" and then they have to follow me in and try and match my breakmarkers... :) Even _I_ can manage to turn consistent 1:25s at PIR on her, get a lightweight rider 100-150 lbs lighter on it and I'd be amazed to see anything more than a 1:22 and call you a pansey it you didn't! ;) It should also be noted that this would easily be enough for a first place finish!

Spares, Spares, and More Spares Galore!

I will also considering selling with the bike the full spares kit in part or in whole. The spares are almost too numerous to list, but suffice to say, I was prepared for almost anything and everything, it even has spare pipes, bodywork, levers, carbs, electrics, engince parts , et cetera.
I will not try to start a complete list of spare parts that exist, packaging and pricing will have to be stated later, for now, I'm just trying to inventory everything, for now, this is just from off of the top of my head:
  • Two sets of stingers (aka exhaust cans)
  • MC18 high exit expansion chambers (with stock stingers)
  • MC21 upper - Moviestar
  • MC21 lowers - Moviestar
  • MC21 right mid-fairing - Moviestar
  • MC21 left mid-fairing - Moviestar
  • MC21 tailsection - Moviestar
  • MC21 tailsection - Black (small crack in rear)
  • MC21 tailsection trunk
  • Three coils, (two complete and one additional spare)
  • Levers, both clutch and brake (ake right and left), three sets
  • Left footrest
  • Right footrest
  • Rear master cylinder
  • Full set MC18 wheels (these are the origional 18 wheels that came off the bike
  • Full set MC21 wheels, these were to have been the spares for rain tires, but will be required as the wheels on the bike now have bent rims so will either need to be straightened, or these wheels will be needed to replace them
  • Head gaskets - stock (3 sets)
  • Base gaskets - stock (3 sets)
  • High compression (.4mm) base gaskets (1 set)
  • Exhaust header gaskets (1 set)
  • Reed block
  • Reed cage
  • Reedblock gaskets (two, each works for both carbs and I'd call them each a set, but it's one gasket for both carbs / reedblock, anyway, there are two of them)
  • Pistons and rings (1 set, these are the stock two ring style pistons that are used, but still servicable. Pulled for inspection, didn't have my micrometer handy at the time so installed new ones in their place. Could be used again with no worries, even the rings, as they only had a few sessions on them)
  • RC Valve nuts (tricky buggers, they are reverse threaded... you lose 'em yer screwed!, 2 sets)
  • RC Valve rubber seal and circlips (1 set)
  • Speedo (two of them)
  • Rear shock (stock)
  • Headlight
  • Taillights
  • Turn Signals
  • MC18 airbox (stock)
  • Left switchgear (stock)
  • RC Valve Servo motor (missing the drive gear, just the electrics, easily replaced with existing unit incase primary unit fails however with just five screws and it's a complete unit again)
  • Leakdown seal for exhaust (it's actually a freezeplug for a truck, but after searching forever I finally found one that fit, works like a charm!)
  • Clutch cover gaskets (four)
  • Rear sprocket (stock size, I think 40 or 42 teeth, I forget, handy for shorter more technical tracks, unlike PIR where top speed is king and you need taller gearing)
  • New unused front head
  • New unused rear head
  • 7 complete sets of NGK plus in various heat ranges and with or without resistors
  • Throttle cables (both the push and pull cables)
  • Clutch cable
  • Jetting - I've got a huge array of Keihn small round main jets, slow jets, as well as needles. I will NOT be willing to part with my full Keihn jet set as many of my other bikes take these jets, but I could part with enough to leave the buyer of the spares a decent selection in the range they will need for PNWet racing and have a good idea what would be needed in CA as well so I could set you up no worries...
  • et cetera
  • There is more, this is just all I can pull off the top of my head for now tho... I'll try and get a complete inventory as well as pictures tomorrow.

    Price

I have to apologize somewhat here. For now, I'm still a little unsure on a final price.

I've got well over 5K into just the bike alone with just everything that's bolted onto it, add in the spares of bodywork, electrics, consumables, motorbits, et cetera... The bike if sold alone would come with all the street parts to make her streetable at least, and I never cut any of the stock wiring harness for this exact reason, tho as stated, she's a grey bike and doesn't have a US title or registration.

I'll call it $3500 for the bike alone plus street stuff and $4k for the works as it exists today of bike and all the spares as noted above. I've been selling 1-2 things off from time to time when fellow NSR owners contact me, but I'm trying to keep the race spares kit as whole as possible incase someone wants to buy her as a racer instead of a streetbike. With having raced her for two seasons I have a strong idea of what the consumables are. :)

    Licensing

You may or may not know the trials and tribulations of registering grey bikes here in the US. Many many many people have done it, but there are trials and tribulations as well... I'll be more than happy to advise and provide all the paperwork I have for her to assist with getting the customs document however. But, as with all bike grey, there are never any guarentees you'll get her registered or a title that says anything other than:
    "For Race Purposes Only"
