GAMING Nights!!! We get together on Thursday nights usually after work (around 5:30) and start game play around 7:00 after food. The game is BattleTech, the board game from which MechWarrior was spawn. Games can take anywhere from an unbelievable fast melee lasting one 30-40 minutes to a tournament that can take up to a few gaming nights back to back for 2-3 weeks... Usually it's 2-3 players fielding only 1 or 2 mechs. More than that just make game play go on forever. We observe MOST of all of the rules but have over-ridden a few with house rules that just make more sence. House Rules: No Fires or smoke (You just try to quickly compute all that after a battle near a light woods, much less a few!) Line of sight makes no modification unless blocking terain hex with woods and such blocks with more than half of the woods. Example: we draw the line between the 2 mechs, the are 3 woods between but only 2 of them graze the line, one goes right through the middle of the line. You only take the modification for the 1 that very clearly blocks line of sight. No Aerospace, infantry, or ground vehicles! No fielding 80 1 ton hovercraft with a max speed of 280KPM and just ramming our legs off, (DUSTIN!) when there is an 80 ton max for the game. Aerospace doesn't have enough map sheets to play fairly, and infantry just gets annoyoning like fires and smoke... to much number tumbling! You drink all the Diet Pepsi, you bring some to replace it the next week! (Tanakas!) or you don't get to drink it anymore. Pilots get damn near every chance to eject after mech explosion. Basicall you gotta roll snake eyes 3 times in a row to kill your pilot, but it's been known to happen. (So Tanakas, bringing another rookie into play this week... AGAIN?) No loaded dice, but if you have a set of dice you wish to make special rolls with (always seem to roll high or low) feel free. This rule is supject to chance if I deem you need to lose a roll. :) My house, my rules. We adhere to the rule that you can not turn if running backwards. You need to retreat and turn better make sure your facing the right direction before you need to retreat! NewTech and LosTech needs to be approved by all players before being allowed into play, and can be subject to not being allowed for that game to make it fair for all players to utilize if they wish without being locking into their configurations. Mechsheets need to be filled out and ready to go by 7:00... games take long enough without having to wait for 20-30 minutes while you fill out a critical slot chart! We've got pre-made photocopy mechs and will stick you in the one we deem fair if you ain't ready... (So, you like the kitfox a lot going up against marauders, don't ya!) Thats it... mostly. Probably missed some. Feel free to ask questions and if you don't know how to play we'll gladly pummel you into knowledge. "When the last day comes, and my life flashes before my eyes, it's gonna be one HELL-O-VA show!"
