| While arriving at home tonight and starting up the driveway, I noticed a mysterious newly installed speedbump. As I got closer, quite suddenly and by surprise, it moved!!! Changing direction to correlate to the new position, I NARROWLY missed it. As I zipped past, I realized "Hey! That's a TURTLE!" and stopped. I collected said mobile speedbump, and went the rest of the way up the driveway to the house. |

Turtle Pal RescueWith my new little Turtle Pal moved to higher ground and now re-deposited safely into the back of the S10 truckbed, I went inside to inform the wife we had to do a bit of rescue work. I can only assume he made his way up the many miles long dry creekbed for Onion Creek, worked his way up the road, and then up our driveway, in search of water. There isn't any water for miles! I put a dog crate in the back of the truck, filled the bottom with water, and off we went to downtown Austin to deliver Mr. Speedbump to the Ladybird Lake / Town Lake which runs through the center of town, and has quite the population of other little Speedbumps. |

Delivery to the LakeOnce safely delivered into the lake, we loaded the dog crate back up stowed my leather gloves (those suckers have serious claws!) and got ready to leave. Then those who had seen us started to point. One guy came up and asked if we'd put some animal into the water. I said yeah, a turtle that showed up in our driveway MANY miles from any water. He thanked us, and off we went for dinner. |
