Ninja ZX9R
(a girls bike)

the ZX9 at her new home

I found this bike listed in Cycle Trader in San Diego. A great friend went to take a look at it for me, and not only did he agree to make the deal for me, he trailered the bike up to the Seattle area as well. What a guy!
THANKS MARK!!!

NOW its a girls bike

The bike is a former *stunta* bike. There were the tell-tale signs of blown forks, and issues with the clutch. Hmmmm, wheelie monster maybe? None of these were big issues, and it helps when your husband works at Cycle Barn. So, we cleaned her up good, replaced the parts that needed replacing, then I set to work on the body panels.

close up of my paintjob

It had been down once or twice, so I did some plastic welding, then airbrushed Buttercup the PowerPuff girl on the lowers. Hey, if a ZX9r can come stock in eggplant purple with pink "Ninja" stickers, then she can damn well have Buttercup on the lowers. There's no mistaking my bike for anyone elses now.

me on a ride to Index

She's been my regular commuter, weekend ride, and long trip bike as well. The longest ride so far was to last year's Gather at Lake Crescent in south-central Oregon (just over 1000 miles round trip). Its just a perfect bike. And now she's even more perfect, now that she has steel-braided brake lines and a rebuilt master cylinder. Brakes are cool.
